A 33-year-old Parma man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after a traffic stop in Solon on April 22. Authorities said it appeared the defendant had urinated on himself and his car just before he was taken into custody.

According to media reports, witnesses called police after seeing a vehicle driving erratically on U.S. 422. Responding officers soon found the car parked near the highway overpass of Cannon Road. They said it had its hazard flashers on and its right front wheel was partially touching the overpass wall.

Officers observed the defendant walking near the car and approached him. As they got closer, they noticed that the individual had urinated on himself as well as the wall next to the automobile. When they looked in his car, they saw that he had also urinated on the car seat. They also reported that his zipper was open as they talked to him. Given his condition, they believed he was likely impaired. The defendant was placed under arrest and taken to Solon Jail for processing. Once there, he refused to take a breath test. He has been charged with operating a vehicle while impaired and failure to maintain reasonable control.

Individuals facing drunk driving charges may wish to develop a legal strategy with the help of a criminal defense attorney. In some cases, an attorney’s efforts could get the charges dismissed. In others, they could lead to a reduction of charges and a more lenient sentence. For example, if the defendant is a first-time offender, he or she could be ordered to undergo substance abuse treatment instead of going to jail.
